Common FAQ's
Shipping Delays and Lost Packages
In the event your item does not arrive within the calculated timeframe, please note that I will not consider giving refunds until a minimum of 30 days after it has been shipped.
Shipping is Expensive
I know that shipping internationally seems expensive, which is why I keep costs and shipping time as low as I can by using a courier service to transport packages so that they can ship from the US. If I shipped from Canada the cost would be about 4 times what I'm able to charge by using a courier, so I'm able to save the customers about $20 in shipping costs. This also makes it faster to ship as far as time goes, usually cutting off 1-2 weeks in shipping time. I hope this explains the process, it's difficult to maneuver international shipping to keep costs and transit times low, and this is the best option I've been able to come up with.
Little Tabs on Glass Precuts
When cutting with a waterjet you must have spot that remains on the edge of your piece. This is called a tab. The tab holds the glass in place while it cuts because the pressure is so great, the glass would move otherwise and your cut would be spoiled. I suggest if you have a tab that projects outward that you either grind it off or cut it off with mosaic nippers. I have a blog post about different ways to get rid of the tabs here.
Why is it so expensive to waterjet cut glass?
Basically there are two reasons. First, glass is expensive and the cost is increasing all the time - approximately once a year. The second is that waterjets must have garnet in them to cut glass. Garnet is an abrasive media that when mixed with water is shot out at high pressure to cut the glass. Garnet is expensive and I purchase it in 1 ton increments. For me, garnet costs over $1K per ton and I currently use about 10 tons per year.
