Frequently Asked Questions About Our Silk Screens

What are these silk screens used for?

Our reusable sticky-back silk screens are designed for glass screen printing, enamel printing, ceramics, mixed media artwork, functional glass art, fused glass projects, and decorative creative applications.

Can these silk screens be used on fused glass?

Yes. Our silk screens are specifically designed for screen printing on glass and work beautifully on both COE 90 and COE 96 glass.

Can these silk screens be used on ceramics?

Yes. These reusable mesh stencils can also be used on ceramics, pottery, and other smooth surfaces using compatible ceramic underglazes or screen printing mediums.

What screen printing medium works best with these screens?

For best results, we recommend using ColorFire Glass Enamel Paste, which is designed specifically for kiln-fired glass and ceramic artwork.

What size are the silk screens?

Our standard silk screen sheets measure 8.5" x 11" unless otherwise noted in the product listing.

Are the silk screens reusable?

Yes. These sticky-back silk screens are reusable when cleaned immediately after use and allowed to dry completely before reuse.

How do I clean the silk screen?

After printing, rinse the screen immediately with water and gently remove any remaining enamel or medium before it dries in the mesh. Allow the screen to dry fully before storing or using it again.

Why must the silk screen be completely dry before reuse?

If the screen is reused while still wet, the adhesive backing becomes more aggressive and may cause the emulsion to lift or peel during removal from the glass surface.

Can beginners use these silk screens?

Yes. Our silk screens are beginner friendly and allow artists to create detailed artwork without needing advanced drawing or painting skills.

Do the silk screens include instructions?

Yes. Every silk screen includes a FREE written tutorial to help artists achieve successful printing results.

Is there an online tutorial available?

Yes. Follow our detailed Screen Printing on Glass Tutorial for step-by-step instructions, firing information, troubleshooting tips, and techniques for COE 90 and COE 96 glass.

What can I create with these silk screens?

These silk screens are perfect for fused glass panels, suncatchers, ornaments, jewelry, functional glass art, ceramic projects, mixed media artwork, handmade gifts, seasonal decor, and craft fair creations.
